Tuition and Payments
Tuition
Consistent monthly payments
Tuition is a flat fee every month, due on the 1st. This rate is calculated by dividing the yearly rate by the number of lessons, and the consistency of the fee helps both students and the instructor budget more easily.
Lesson prices are:
$175 per month for 30-minute lessons
$245 per month for 45-minute lessons
$300 per month for hourlong lessons
(Listed prices require autopay signup)
How to pay
Payments are to be made by ACH, Venmo, Zelle, or credit card. Invoices will be sent by My Music Staff. Credit cards are subject to a transaction fee, while other payments do not incur a fee.
Discounts
Beyond the auto-pay discount ($5/$10/$15), students can pay for an entire session upfront for a 10% discount. Please note that with this option, there are no refunds under any circumstances!
Late fees
A late fee of $20 will be assessed for payments after the 5th, which will increase by $10 each time payment is not made on time. Continuous late payment will be grounds for dismissal from the studio, and lessons are not taught if there is outstanding payment.
Other costs and materials
An 88-key weighted keyboard or acoustic piano is required. Parents and students sometimes ask to start lessons, saying they will purchase a suitable instrument later should they go well, but one cannot properly take lessons without the appropriate instrument. Therefore, this suitable instrument is required from the first lesson, or must have at least been ordered.
Music books will need to be purchased at the beginning of lessons and occasionally in months that follow, and the instructor will inform you what to order. These costs vary but are typically $10-20 per purchase, a few times per year.
A three-ring binder is required for students’ assignment sheets and occasional loose-leaf music. This should be brought to every lesson unless stated otherwise by the instructor.
A metronome (physical or on phone)
Recitals are held twice a year. They are highly encouraged and often have a small fee ($20-30), which helps to cover the cost of the venue for the instructor.
