About the Teacher

Hi! I’m so excited that you’re considering taking piano lessons with me. Here’s some more info about who I am, what I believe in, and how I run my studio.

I’ve spent more than 26 years playing piano, alongside many years as a teacher. My performing has taken me around the world (you can read my performing bio HERE), and over the course of all that playing, I’ve learned countless approaches from numerous mentors. In the process, I’ve formed what I believe is a well-rounded but deep view of teaching, which I’ve articulated below.

As a teacher, I help my students fully blossom, living well-rounded and fulfilled musical lives. I treat each student as an individual, guiding them in a healthy, growth-oriented manner that prioritizes process over immediate results, an approach that best sets them up for long-term success. Most acutely, I help them find themselves in music, using a variety of methods to assist them in taking their own, unique path.

Overall, my teaching approach is balanced and well-rounded, and I recognize the need to address problems from a range of angles. Many ideas work for one student but not another, and only through figuring out what methods work best for oneself can a student become the best version of that self.
